Having some extra clothing on hand can be quite useful, especially when you are on the move. A full-coverage nightgown, for example, can be quite versatile. You can wear it on your wedding day or ballroom dance recital (if your body type allows you to wear such an outfit) and look fantastic. Or, you can tie it around your waist and voila – instant chic! You can pull off this look for a night on the town or an evening at home. Either way, this dress is a must-have in your closet.
Bathrobes are quite similar to pajamas in that both are nightwear that you wear in the tub or shower. There are some subtleties, however, that you need to be aware of when washing your bathrobe. It is best to wash your bathrobe every day and with similar clothes. For instance, you can use a sportswear style shirt to clean your bathrobe. Just make sure that the fabrics are soft enough to not ravel or shrink.
The primary thing to keep in mind when washing your bathrobe is that you must ensure that the inside material is completely clean. You can use any soap or liquid detergent that you normally use for your clothes. Just make sure that whatever you use is non-chlorine bleach-free and environmentally friendly. When you get out of the bath or shower, simply hang it up to drip dry. This way, any soap or moisture will be wiped clean for when you come back to bathe or shower again.
Starching
When you are washing your bathrobe, it is important to starch it first. This will prevent the cloth from becoming limp and a losing its shape. Simply dip the edges of your bathrobe in a container of starch and then shake it off. Alternatively, you can spray some on and then shake it off. Do this before and after every washing period. Keep in mind that too much or too often starching can make your clothing look more like a dust rag than the original piece of clothing. Still, it is an important step that you need to take to keep your bathrobe looking brand-new.
Dry Cleaning
Dry cleaning your hair and makeup products is another great way to keep your bathrobe looking fresh. Just make sure that whatever you use is easily removed. If you use anything too strong, it will leave a mark that can take several days to remove. If you use anything at all, make sure that it is completely dry before laying it on the outside of your robe.
Preshow Conditioning
When you arrive at your hotel or house before going on vacation, give your clothing a quick spritz with some water to help it stay fresh for the big day. You can even use a dryer on your underlayers.
Deep Cleans
The best way to keep your garments looking chic and neat is by regularly washing them at least twice a day. In the morning, give your clothing a quick spin in the dryer on low heat for a minute or two just to warm it up. Then, transfer the clothing to your sink and gently wash it down. In the evening, give it a second wash after taking a quick spin in the dryer on the lowest setting. Make sure that you leave it outside your bedroom door for the night to let the moisture settle. In the morning, before getting dressed for the day, give it one last wash and hang it up outside your bedroom door to dry.
Include your bathing room in your nightly routine – at least once a week, if not more often. This way, you will be sure to keep your clothes looking as good as new and will be able to enjoy your well-deserved pajamas for years to come.
