You may have noticed that most wet clothes are not meant to be washed using conventional washing machines. They’re usually big items, like blankets, duvets, and Persian lamb. But even regular underlayers, socks, and t-shirts can end up looking a little dull after just a few washes.

If you want to keep your clothes looking brand-new for years to come, follow these steps to achieve velvety-soft, clean clothing with each wash.

Velvety-Soft Clothes

To make your clothes look and feel brand-new, you need to use the right detergents and softeners. In all areas of your home, there are detergents and softeners that work for your clothes, so think about what kind of mood you’re in when you wash your clothes. Are you in a rush, or do you have the time to sort through hundreds of detergents to find the right one?

If you’re in a rush, you shouldn’t use anything but liquid detergents or Washing Soda, as they work just as well when used in a rush (and are much easier to use than solid items). If you have the time, I recommend using a few drops of washing soda in your clothes, then adding a small amount of liquid detergent to remove stubborn stains. For regular clothing, nothing softer than an alkaline detergent can go into your machine.

When you wash your clothes, you don’t want to use any abrasive detergents or soap, as the latter will surely make your clothes look dull. Use a non-shiny, non-fabric softener with each load of clothing to bring back the shine.

No Shine On My Clothes

If you’re prone to stains, you should know that using a lot of water won’t improve the situation. Instead, using a non-shiny, non-wollens fabric softener with your clothing will help prevent stains and shine loss. You can also try spray on some fabric softener before you put your clothes in the dryer. When your clothes are wet, the fabric softener will help eliminate the shininess while your clothing dries.

Allergies And Irritants

If you have allergies or asthmatic sensitivities, you should use detergents and cleaning products that are free of irritating ingredients. There are many different types of detergents and cleaning products out there, so you’ll need to do some research to find ones that are suitable for your allergies and irritants. If you have sensitive skin, you should also try to avoid using any artificial colours or sweeteners in your clothes and other areas of your home.

No Bleach

Forget about using bleach on your clothes. It will strip the colour out of your clothes and make them look dull. You can use a small amount of detergent with water to remove stains caused by bleach, but make sure not to wash your clothing in hot water, as this will cause the color to run.

Use An Electric Dryer

An electric dryer is a lot faster than using a conventional washing machine, so if you have time, I recommend using one. If not, then you should at least consider using your clothes dryer for the initial spin cycle, as this will make washing your garments a whole lot easier. Electric dryers have a special setting that makes them spin your clothes quickly while not over-drying them, so you can ensure that your clothes look as good as new.

How To Get A Custom Size

If you’re familiar with Mad Hippie, you may know that we offer a custom-size service, where we take your measurements and make suggestions for different sizes of your clothes. With custom sizes, you don’t have to worry about fitting into an existing size, as we will make sure your clothes are big enough to fit you perfectly. When you wash your clothes, we will give you a new fitting room!

Fully Stocked Clearing Machine

If you have a lot of wrinkles and stains on your clothes, you should consider investing in a fully stocked laundry room. A fully stocked clearing machine can make washing your fabrics a breeze. It will also ensure that your clothes look as good as new after every wash.

Lay Your Clothes Flat To Dry

When you put your clothes in the dryer, make sure to lay them flat. This ensures that all the pieces are given enough air for the clothes to fully dry without any wrinkles. While it may be difficult, you can use a little bit of starch on your underlayers, to prevent them from sliding when you lay them in the dryer.

Soft Washing

For the quickest method of washing your clothes, use a hand-held shower head and warm water. This will not only make your clothes look great, but it will also make the process loads easier.

No Detergents

For sensitive skin or for those with allergies, use only water to clean your clothes. If you are running low on water, you can use a non-shiny, non-wollens fabric softener with your clothing. In the event of an accidental spillage, make sure to remove the clothing immediately and wash the area thoroughly with soap and water.

To keep your clothes looking as good as new, wash them in the evening, when you have the time to sort through all your laundry. On the other hand, if you have a lot of stains, use a bit of detergent with the water to remove them. When you’re in a hurry, use your washing soda or liquid detergents, as they will make your clothes look clean and shiny. Don’t use any fabric softener when your clothes are in a hurry, as this will only result in the clothing looking dull and flat.
